    Job Description

VICAR - CHURCH OF ST GEORGE OF CAPPADOCIA SHREWSBURY

St George’s is a lively church with a population of approximately 7,500 set in a suburb of the beautiful county town of Shropshire.   We are seeking a Christ centred person, whose life is undergirded by prayer, and who is passionate about proclaiming the truth of the scriptures and creeds.  Therefore we look for someone who has a demonstrable ability:

To lead a spiritually broad based congregation in worship and prayer and to help worshippers  to deepen their commitment to Jesus Christ

To grow the Kingdom of God by reaching out from the church to all the parish, and beyond

To transform the lives of individuals and communities, by bringing to them the knowledge of the love that Jesus Christ has for them

To lead and work and empower others to do the same so that the objectives of our Church Mission plan are achieved

To work with the schools within the parish so that children may come to know their Saviour

To care for those who are no longer able to attend church and to show the love and compassion of a true pastor

To work with other Christian churches and other traditions within the town and beyond
